Choctops at SIMS

Having spent eight years picking through the shingle of Britain, the BBC’s acclaimed documentary series, “Coast” last year turned their attention to something just a tiny bit bigger….Australia,  and SIMS was delighted to be a part of it.

SIMS supporters recently enjoyed the splendour of “Coast Australia” in a special screening of the documentary celebrating World Oceans Day. The audience had the unique advantage of viewing the Sydney episode with SIMS’ Professor Emma Johnston, co-presenter of the BBC production on hand to provide insight into the sheer wonder of the experience, together with entertaining anecdotes from behind the scenes.

The series includes eight episodes each showcasing a different area of Australia’s expansive coastline. We even managed to squeeze in a brief preview of the Great Barrier Reef episode which shows Emma using high tech Catlin survey equipment.
