Baby Port Jackson sharks at SIMS aquarium!
Macquarie University masters student, Evan Byrne is examining the differences in intraspecific personality (boldness) and cognition in elasmobranchs, using the Port Jackson shark (Heterodontus portusjacksoni) as a model species. Once complete, this research will enable scientists to better understand the complex relationships between personality, cognition and behaviour in predatory animals, who play a critical role in maintaining the health, structure and function of marine ecosystems.
