SIMS Foundation

SIMS Foundation has been established to provide long term financial support to SIMS. The need for research is urgent. Foundation support will enable SIMS to tackle things that are most needed - but which are not covered by university and government funding.

Funding from the universities and governments covers the basic operating costs of the institute. With your support, we can initiate innovative research, attract top quality PhD students and post-doctoral fellows and continue to provide state-of-the-art facilities to advance marine science.

Supporters' funding is making a difference. Already SIMS has enabled vital projects and facilities with funding from our supporters:

• The research vessel Kirby;
• The costs of running the ESCCI conference to implement a co-ordinated East Coast research programme on climate change;
• Costs of planning and implementing a masters course in marine science to commence in 2011;
• Research aquarium upgrade with collaborative funding from The Ian Potter Foundation and the NSW Government.

By engaging with SIMS and the SIMS Foundation, you will be involved with institutions that are:

• Contributing significantly to the conservation of our environment;
• Contributing significantly to the research on climate change;

You will have the opportunity to be involved with SIMS - being kept up to date with the latest research and attending SIMS briefings by our scientists.

• Platinum supporters $10,000 p.a.
  
• Gold supporters $5,000 p.a.
  
• Silver supporters $2,000 p.a.
  
• Bronze supporters $1,000 p.a.
  
• Friends of SIMS $100 p.a.
  

Corporate partners:

Committing to donate $25,000 p.a. for three years.

Doctoral fellowships:

Donating $12,500 p.a. for three years to fund a doctoral fellowship for one PhD student.

Research partners:

Donating $150,000 or more towards specific research projects. Please enquire if you wish to have details of these projects.
