New Living Seawall Installation at Balmain

Living Seawalls is a SIMS initiative that builds on years of Sydney-based marine green engineering research that shows retrofitting existing seawalls with habitat enhancing panels can improve the ecological performance of artificial structures.

The Living Seawalls team are very excited to see the new panels installed at Thornton Park in the Inner West Council.

This is the realisation of a strong collaboration between the Living Seawalls team, our generous and enthusiastic philanthropic supporters  the Harding Miller Foundation, and the team at Inner West Council.

The panels will improve the environmental value of the seawall by providing habitat for marine animals and plants. By improving habitat we can contribute to the overall improved health of the marine environment.

We now have Living Seawalls at  Milsons Point, Sawmillers Reserve, Blues Point, Clontarf, Fairlight, Rushcutters Bay and Balmain.  And still growing….with your support!
