Worldwide, we know we are seeing coastal ecosystems diminishing and degrading as we are lose habitat-forming species like kelp forests, coral reefs, and seagrass beds.

SIMS’ solution focused research has been leading the way with restoration practices, and that leadership continues with Professor Peter Steinberg, the inaugural director of SIMS and Director, World Harbour Project discussing emerging genetic technologies  for restoration and how we can build adaptive capacity in those populations that we are trying to restore.
