SIMS’ major prize partner for the Emerald Gala Dinner

We are delighted to announce that Aurora Expeditions, who supported us for three years prior to the cancellation of the dinner in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid, will continue their support this year by once again providing the major live auction prize – a choice between two life-changing expeditions on Aurora’s new, purpose-built expedition ship, the Sylvia Earle in 2023.

Named “The World’s Leading Polar Expedition Operator 2020” in the prestigious World Travel Awards, Aurora Expeditions has pioneered ship-based adventures for more than 30 years. They remain committed to running small, low-impact expeditions for travellers who want to not only see, but experience their range of remote destinations, which include Antarctica, European Arctic, the Russian Far East, the British Isles, Latin America and more.

Due to sail soon, Aurora’s new ship honours the highly accomplished marine biologist, oceanographer, and explorer, Dr. Sylvia Earle. As the first female chief scientist of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and named by Time Magazine as its first Hero for the Planet in 1998 – this vessel pays tribute to Dr. Earle’s long-standing conservation efforts for marine protected areas and ocean wildlife. Dr. Sylvia Earle has been involved in the development of her namesake.
