SIMS is pleased to announce the start of the Holt Estate Environmental Science Scholarship in 2024.
The Holt Estate and its CEO, Duncan McComb, are dedicated to offering support for indigenous self-determination and education. This commitment to meaningful engagement with traditional owners led to an exciting partnership between The Holt Estate and SIMS after meeting at our National Science Week Event on Indigenous Knowledge and Marine Science in Gamay (Botany Bay), hosted in collaboration with The Gamay Rangers.
This partnership has led to the generous contribution from the Holt Estate to sponsor an indigenous student scholarship for $10,000 per year, for each of three years. The scholarship will facilitate the financial support of an indigenous student throughout their tertiary education at one of SIMS’ partner universities: University of Technology Sydney, Macquarie University, the University of New South Wales, and the University of Sydney.
